The makings of a Happy Day

I went to the gym and felt virtuous.
We saw family in the morning and friends in the afternoon.
In between, Little E had a two hour nap and we put together dinner. It is finally getting cooler here so we made beef and red wine casserole, which cooked while we were at our friends' house.
E was happy all afternoon, courtesy of the big nap.
We all ate dinner together (albeit it at 5.20pm, and even if all E condescended to eat of the casserole was pasta with gravy and carrot, plus some additional raw celery and cucumber, and a few tomatoes from the garden).
After dinner we lay on a rug together in the garden and looked at the clouds and the moon. Then E had a bath with her menagerie, and went to bed without fuss.
Happy times indeed.

Sounds like a beautiful day. I'm currently mourning the loss of my son's lunchtime nap. That peace is precious! x
